Fresh beer from Hamburg-Harburg.

The Holsten Brewery is moving away from its traditional home in Altona and, at a new production site in the Harburg district, is erecting one of the most modern breweries in Europe.

The new brewery is designed as a hall complex with a length of 153 metres and a breadth of 140 metres, along with further ancillary buildings. A hall surface area of c. 25,000 square metres and an additional exterior foundation slab provide enough space for everything required for the manufacture, filling, storage and shipment of the sparkling liquid.

The structure of the brewery principally consists of an economical prefabricated construction of reinforced concrete pillars and pre-stressed roof trusses with a span of up to 29 metres. The hall complex is braced through the sometimes 22-metre high hall pillars, which are clamped in a shallow sleeve foundation. To upgrade the building site, a large-scale vibro stone compaction was carried out.

Thanks to the new site’s favourable transport location, the fully loaded trucks can quickly set off on their journey to the customer.

Thus, the beer will still come from Hamburg. In spite of the change in the location of the production site, the city will retain its traditional beer brands.
